According to a release, Ballou is a 2006 UNCW graduate and is the current director of federal relations for the University of North Carolina, acting as the primary liaison to the U.S. Congress for the 17-campus UNC System.

As UNCW’s chief of staff, Ballou will coordinate daily operations in the chancellor’s office, the divisional budget and employment-related matters, and as a member of Chancellor Jose “Zito” Sartarelli’s cabinet, he will provide support for advancing the chancellor’s priorities and institutional initiatives. Ballou will also serve as a liaison with the University of North Carolina General Administration, the release stated.

Ballou succeeds former Chief of Staff Max Allen, who left UNCW earlier this year to assume the same role at Clemson University.
