WASHINGTON — During the recently aired “Friends: The Reunion” special, after David Schwimmer and Jennifer Aniston talked about a crush on each other while filming the sitcom initially, the actor’s ex-girlfriend Natalie Imbruglia weighed in on whether there was any overlap.
“I thought that too,” she said about the “crossover” between his crush on Aniston and his relationship with the singer.
The songwriter, who didn’t remember exactly when in the late ’90s she dated Schwimmer, reflected on visiting her ex-boyfriend on set at the time.
“I do remember being on the set, and I remember everybody being lovely and really, really nice,” Imbruglia said. “I wasn’t paying attention to whether they were giving each other ‘little looks’ over my shoulder. I don’t know if that was happening. I’m okay with whatever happened back then. It was a long time ago.”
Imbruglia’s walk down memory lane came after Schwimmer and Aniston revealed recently during the “Friends: Reunion” special that they both harbored crushes on each other during season 1 of the hit show.
“The first season, I had a major crush on Jen,” the “American Crime Story” alum shared.
Aniston agreed that the crush was “reciprocated,” but the co-stars clarified that nothing ever happened between them. Schwimmer added that the timing just didn’t work out for both of them.
Aniston has been named one of the world’s most beautiful women by several publications. She has a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame and is the co-founder of Echo Films, a production business that was founded in 2008. Aniston has been married twice, the first to actor Brad Pitt for five years and the second to actor Justin Theroux, whom she married in 2015 and later divorced in 2017.
Schwimmer moved into cinema and theatre work after the series finale of “Friends” in 2004. He voiced Melman the Giraffe in the computer-animated “Madagascar” film franchise and played the lead character in the 2005 drama picture “Duane Hopwood.”
In 2006, he made his Broadway debut in the play “The Caine Mutiny Court-Martial.” He made his off-Broadway directing debut the following year with “Fault Lines.”
In 2016, he received his second Primetime Emmy Award nomination for his role as lawyer Robert Kardashian in “The People v. O. J. Simpson.” He was nominated for Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Limited Series or Movie.
As per reports, while Aniston and Schwimmer never acted on their crushes, the chemistry between them was clear to everyone on set.
